I hope you had an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend. I spent mine roofing a friend’s house. Manual labor isn’t one of my favorite activities but it doesn’t hurt to do a little of it now & then as a reminder of what you could be doing every day.
Now I know something about roofing…and I know how sore I was every morning. The worst part was taking off the old roof. There were 6 layers of shingles in some parts. Taking out the old nails to make a smooth surface for the OSB board wasn’t so bad. And putting on the felt paper wasn’t that difficult either.
Roofing isn’t something I have much interest in, but there is definitely a process to follow just as there is with an Internet business. The best process for you to follow is something for you to find out for yourself. There are several proven models to follow. It’s up to you to figure out what works best for you.
The model that has worked best for me is to create a blog, post regularly, and create information products for sale. If that model interests you, then you can join my intern program at no cost to learn that method. Or you can do some research and buy a course that teaches another method. That’s up to you.
But one thing is virtually certain. If you don’t study, you won’t be successful. It won’t magically happen. You have to work at it. Several of the people helping with the roof had teenage children. Their job was to clean up the yard full of shingles and throw them in the dumpster.
We told them that’s the kind of job you’ll get if you don’t study in school. I’m not so sure it worked because they actually seemed to enjoy it. And the best roofers probably make a small fortune…but they also hire people to do most of the manual labor. In any event, you’re less likely to be successful if you don’t study & test. Learning is a never-ending process.

First of all, I do not call myself an SEO expert. However, I have achieved high-rankings for ultra-competitive search terms so I’m not exactly clueless either.
My strategy was very simple. It went like this. After wasting way too much time, money, and effort following advice the turned out to be worthless for the most part, I simply found someone who was ranked #1 for a term I was targeting and asked for help.
I know it’s a novel idea, but it worked. With a few tweaks I was ranked on the first page for several highly competitive search terms within about 60 days and continue to be ranked highly to this day.
I’ll be interviewing this expert who is usually ranked #1 for a very competitive search term and has been for as long as I can remember. It’s the same person who made a few simple suggestions I implemented to achieve quick results and first page rankings.
So that’s the background and the question to you is: What’s your most vexing SEO question? You have a day or two (at least until Thursday) to ask your question as a comment to this post.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this interview yet. It could be a new product, or a bonus for other products, or even a gift for subscribing to my list. I’m not sure yet…but regardless of what I decide to do, the person who asks the best question gets a free copy of the interview (and if I decide to give it away for free I’ll give you another one of my products).

Automating dull, boring, repetitive tasks can be like a breath of fresh air…and there’s a slick program called Internet Macros that can help you automate just about any task you perform online. Internet Macros is not new. I’ve had it for a couple of years but I hadn’t used in a long time until last week.
In the past, I’ve used it to automate things in cpanel like creating new domains, email accounts, etc. If you’re only creating one domain, email address, etc. there’s not much benefit to using Internet Macros, but the best part is that there is a loop feature that allows you to run a macro using a .csv file to create multiple domains or email accounts at once at the click of a button.
To set up a macro, all you have to do is goto the website you’re using and record yourself actually peforming the task. Internet Macros has a record feature which makes this simple. Then to transform it into a loop, just follow the format on one of the sample macros that comes with the program.
In the version I have, the macro is called “Demo-Loop-Csv-2-Web”. Just use the same format with your macro, create a .csv file with the values, and you’re done. Sometimes Internet Macros will get “stuck” and time out. That can be a bit of a pain but all you have to do is figure out where the macro got stuck and restart it from there. The whole process is actually very simple.
There are several versions of the program. The scripting edition costs $499 and the PRO edition costs $199 but you don’t need those. I’m using the Power Surfer edition which is currently $49.95 and there’s a 30-day trial version you can use for free to see if you like the program.
It looks like you can get it for $29.95 through my affiliate link. I’m unable to log in to my RegNow account but I have this link and it offers the Internet Macros Power Surfer Edition for $29.95. It might be an older edition but I’m using an older edition myself and it works fine.

This is not a new strategy…just new for me. And if you haven’t tried it, you might want to consider giving it a try to see if it works for you. I showed what I did in the video I had up during the 24 Hour Blog Carnival Submission special last week but the video has now been removed.
In a nutshell, I got one of my blogs ranked on the first page of the SERPs for a highly-competitive search term and then swapped the blog for a squeeze page. I used well-known link-building strategies like article marketing & blog carnival submissions. Then when I was ranked on the first page, I removed the blog and put up a squeeze page.
This is not in the “make money online” market but there’s no reason it wouldn’t work in any market. It just needs to be tested. The number of opt-ins has increased since I swapped the blog for the squeeze page.
Even though I had an opt-in form on the blog, this makes sense if you think about it. There were several choices when someone visited the blog. They could read the posts, click links to other sites, opt-in to my list, etc.
With the squeeze page, all the “distractions” are removed. Now the choice is opt-in or don’t opt-in. Given fewer choices (and the whole page devoted to persuading the visitor to opt-in), the number of opt-ins increased and the list grows at a faster rate.
It’s been several weeks since I did this and the ranking doesn’t seem to have been negatively impacted although it did jump around a bit. For a short-time I dropped to the third page but the ranking has bounced back. The ranking now fluctuates from the bottom of the first page to the top of the second page.
You could try this strategy with a squeeze page, a sales letter, an affiliate offer, a CPA offer, etc. The advantage of starting with a blog is that you can submit the posts to blog carnivals as another way to build links and increase your rankings. If you have used this strategy yourself, please leave a comment to share your results.

The 24 Hour Special/7 Day FREE Trial on my Blog Carnival Submission Service expires at 6PM EST today.
On May 6th, I looked up the PR & Alexa rank of all the blogs using my blog carnival submission service. I did this planning on tracking them over time. Yesterday, I went back and looked at the PR & Alexa rank again.
The PR & Alexa rank had improved almost across the board. The two PR exceptions were a PR3 & a PR4 blog that remained the same. And with only one exception, the Alexa rank had improved dramatically. That’s because there haven’t been any posts made to this particular blog in several weeks. If there’s one sure way to drop the Alexa rank of your blog, it’s not making regular posts.
Without giving the URLs to the blogs to protect privacy, here are some specific results over the past 2 months (Alexa rankings are rounded to the nearest 100):

Could your blog use a boost like these blogs have experienced? If you answered “yes”, you have until 6PM EST today to subscribe to my Blog Carnival Submission Service at less than half the regular price. I’m even giving your a FREE 7 day trial. Blog carnival submissions are a great way to put one-way link-building on autopilot.

If you’re trying to rank high in the search engines, it’s all about links. Sure it helps to have the keyword in the URL and the title tag, but that isn’t nearly enough…especially for highly-competitive keywords. I’ve achieved first page rankings for several highly competitive search terms recently and building links over time was a major factor.
I use a multi-pronged approach to link building including article marketing and focusing on links using the keyword as anchor text. Blog carnival submissions have also been a major part of my link-building strategy. Submitting blog posts to blog carnivals has grown the number of links to my blog by hundreds, if not thousands of links, over the past year.
Don’t be so fast to discard the possibility of using blog carnivals if your site is not a blog either. I’ve recently employed a strategy that anyone can use…but instead of writing about it, I’ve created a short video that demonstrates this strategy. I understand you need to see proof that this works but on the other hand I’m not going to advertise my rankings for long so I’m taking this video down as soon as the 24 Hour Special ends. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
My blog carnival submission service normally sells for $100/month and another subscriber just signed up earlier today at that price so it’s definitely worth $100/month. For the next 24 Hours you can subscribe for only $47/month and I’ll even give you a 7 day free trial so you can see the results from the first week of blog carnival submissions.
